#51T Mike Young
There he is, number 19, Michael Young...just like it says on the back, number 43, Michael Young. Seriously...what's up with that?
And what the hell is up with the copy on the back? Why would he be returning to the Orioles in 1988? The card is a TRADED card showing that he's ALREADY BEEN TRADED to the Phillies. WTF???

The text on the back of the card is the same as the base release. It looks like all the cards are the same except for the red line about the trade.
ReplyDeleteHe played in 75 games for the Phillies before being traded to the Brewers in August of '88. I guess he should be included in the Rookies & Traded - Traded set.
Also, he was number 43 for the Orioles in '87. I guess they really dropped the ball when it came to fact checking the reverse of these cards for the traded set.
ReplyDeleteI should go back and see how many of the uniform numbers that don't match the new team match the old team. Probably most.
By the way, his base release card is wonderful. It depicts him running away from a flying helmet that's about to hit him in the ass.
I seen Mike Young naked as a jay-bird outside a Stuckey's near Wilkes-Barre.
ReplyDeleteNot a memory I enjoy coming back to.
