#49T Dave Henderson

Two really cool things about this card. Henderson was photographed, unusually, in a check swing where we can see the ball (passing his back leg.) Plus, who's that on deck? Jose Canseco, just about the most popular player in baseball when this set came out after the 1988 season.

  1. I love the shot of the vendor in the background clearly watching the pitch and paying no attention to the hungry/thirsty fans.

Everyone remembers his homer off Donnie Moore in the '86 ALCS, but Hendu absolutely raked in the '86 World Series, too. 10 for 25 with 2 homers, 5 RBI and a whopping 1.208 OPS.

  2. There was cool vendor at Three Rivers who used to stomp his feet and clap his hands anytime they did something good. He had a nickname I forget what it was. I used to buy something off him just to say I did.
