#43T Herm Winningham

Wow, you can see 8 letters on the back of Winningham's jersey and still can't see his entire name. The card back notes that Winningham was hitting .352 at the end of May in the minors in 1984. He finished that year at .281, meaning that he must have hit around .230 for the rest of the season.

  1. Those Reds jerseys of the 70s and 80s and Tigers jerseys of the same period (where "Petry" overflowed onto the backs of shoulders) were hilarious. You could read the names from space. Could you imagine if they had a guy like Jason Saltalamacchia on their club? The name would start on the ass roll up the back and bend back down to the ass. Ha!

  2. Skinny guys have names like Herm Winningham and broad-shouldered guys have names like Lee May.
